Wrathcult

Description

Born from the pandemic, Shine is the new creation of Tomasz Dobrzeniecki from Hazael, and their debut album Wrathcult leaves no doubt that a new force in Polish extreme metal has awakened. Inspired by artists such as Emperor, Bathory, Morbid Angel, Entombed, and Dismember, Dobrzeniecki's new outfit channels this lineage into something raw, relentless, and undeniably polished. "'Shine' for me is a glint of a sword blade, the last thing your enemies see of their lives. It can also be linked to the Promethean light given to people that enlightens or sometimes blinds us. It can also be a look of rage stemming from resistance to the rules against the evil imposed on us," explains Dobrzeniecki when asked about the name of his new unit. "Our music is full of references to ancient rules and rituals, as well as to the times when people lived in harmony with nature and the cosmos, using primitive knowledge." Dark Descent Records will handle the release, having previously collaborated with Dobrzeniecki on the reissue of Hazael's classic. Wrathcult continues in a similar thematic realm, invoking forgotten ancestral knowledge and drawing from primordial forces, as well as mythical echoes of a pre-Christian world. "The lyrics of the album are mainly inspired by the spirituality and pre-Christian mythology of our ancestors and are based on books such as Bestiariusz Slowianski, Mitologia Slowianska by J. Bobrowski and M. Wrona, and Slowianska Czarownica (Slavic Bestiary, Slavic mythology, Slavic witch). The lyrics pay homage to nature and higher forces in order to preserve the memories of the beliefs that once shaped our heritage. We live at the crossroads of three cultures that blend in one way or another – Germanic, Nordic, and Slavic mythology have much in common." The album was recorded at Heinrich House studio in Legionowo, Poland – a small town on the outskirts of Warsaw that holds an important place in metal history, being the hometown of Daray (Dimmu Borgir, Vésanie), Orion (Behemoth, Vésanie), and Heinrich (Vésanie, Decapitated). "The producer Heinrich (Filip Halucha) and I have known each other for about 20 years. If you want to record a metal album that meets your expectations 100%, I think he is the only person I trust." An unyielding slab of ancient fury awaits you! "See you in Valhalla! I've heard the parties there are worth dying for," exclaims Dobrzeniecki.
