Lisbon-based keyboardist João 'Shela' Pereira, a frequent collaborator with many local bands (Paus, Rinding Pânico, LAmA, Linda Martini and others), presents a new and strangely captivating album, TV songs. An album of recordings straight from the heart... PianoTV is a collection of spontaneous piano jottings, played to the rhythm of the television in the background... these are snippets of expression in the form of grubby, bucolic sketches, aspiring to a hypothetical larger, cleaner, immaculate composition... they thrive best as a hypothesis, an aspiration, ad infinitum... Because life is dirty, imperfect and real, it is this reality that allows us to taste the sublime, and the sublime can be found in these recordings.
