Rare Original Solo Piano Transcriptions

Description

Rarely heard, the solo piano transcriptions made by Sergei Prokofiev himself reveal a fascinating perspective on his orchestral imagination. This collection brings together rare piano versions of symphonic and ballet works, several of which are recorded here for the very first time in the world. Far from simple reductions, these transcriptions transform works such as the “Classical” Symphony, The Steel Step or The Prodigal Son into dazzling and deeply personal creations. Performed by Alexey Zuev, a specialist in 20th-century Russian repertoire, and enriched by the research of the great Prokofiev scholar Marina Raku, this album sheds new light on a little-known but essential facet of the composer’s creative world.
