The story of Sei Still begins far from the studios, during an impromptu trip taken by three friends in the isolated forests around Mexico City. From these early experiments, a quintet emerges that draws from both German krautrock and contemporary psychedelia, without attempting to replicate their codes. Released in 2020, this debut album features seven lengthy compositions built on motorik rhythms, repetitive guitars, minimalist keyboards, and a slow progression where each motif naturally finds its place. Tracks like El Camino, Fortuna, and Tácticas de Guerrilla Urbana prioritize the establishment of an atmosphere over the pursuit of a climax, allowing the textures to gradually transform over the minutes. More than just a stylistic exercise, Sei Still demonstrates how a Mexican band has appropriated a European heritage to create a personal language, enriched by cinema, travel, and a very free approach to improvisation.
