Description

When the group Sunn O))) contacted Scott Walker in 2009 to collaborate with him on their album Monoliths & Dimensions, they had no idea that it would lead to a more accomplished project. Five years later, the joint project between experimental musician Scott Walker and the American drone group Sunn O))), Soused, sees the light of day. At 71 years old and with a career spanning more than five decades, Scott Walker has lost none of his experimental verve, constantly seeking to deconstruct his music, eradicating any trace of pop from his work in the process. After his album Bish Bosch, released in 2012, he is back accompanied by the priests of drone metal, Sunn O))). Scott Walker had turned down the group’s collaboration offer in 2009 to focus on writing his album Soused, which he ultimately wrote with the group in mind. Sunn O))) is a true reference for drone metal fans; they use extremely heavy sounds, with saturated guitars often accompanied by feedback. Mainly made up of Stephen O Malley and Greg Anderson, Sunn O))) therefore works on this magnetic vibration of metal known as drone, but since their recent collaboration with the Norwegians of Ulver, the group has not released an album since Monoliths & Dimensions, released in 2009 and acclaimed by the press. This unprecedented collaboration is therefore the meeting of two of the roughest worlds, structured like a modern opera in five acts, using instruments to create sonic pillars and effects.
