Not only do Scorpions write superb songs and produce phenomenal albums, they are also a unique live band that feels at home on any stage, no matter its size. It is no coincidence that the Hanoverians have earned the reputation of being one of the best live bands of all time. So what could be more obvious than documenting the band’s sensational performances in the world’s stadiums and arenas with a live album? ‘World Wide Live’ was an ambitious project. A film crew followed the band across the United States, Asia and Europe to South America and recorded the daily touring routine as well as the concerts and the band’s interaction with its fans. Originally released on VHS video and optical disc, the documentary was also shown in cinemas in the United States. For the live album, the band cut five concerts in Paris (29 February 1984), Los Angeles (24 and 25 April 1984), San Diego (26 April 1984), Costa Mesa (28 April 1984) and Cologne (17 April 1984).
