Following on from their debut album, Scimitar returns in force with a blazing second opus, aptly titled Scimitarium II. Formed in 2024 by veterans of Copenhagen’s underground scene, including members of Slaegt, Gam and Shaam Larein, Scimitar released their first album in February 2025 to critical acclaim. The band established itself as a force of nature, with an album far beyond the reach and scope of even more established groups. It is therefore no surprise that this second album draws even more deeply from the same source of inspiration as the first. In a way, this time a glimmer of hope breaks through the darkness, even if these glimmers only serve to amplify the depth of the shadows. Opening in a poignant moment of revelation, Scimitarium II begins like a hellish machine, a vast and complex sonic engine slowly but surely finding its inexorable rhythm until Shaam A’s voice shatters over its budding beats like glass. Once up to speed, nothing seems able to stop this breathless journey, as its angular guitar lines weave tightly through cavernous tunnels, leaving reverberations in their wake, all driven by a frenzied rhythm section that threatens to bring the whole thing crashing down. The blazing Scimitar is born from smoke, ashes and a mystical flame, igniting into a ritual rebirth; an act of self-destruction capable of incredible creation and terrible destruction.
