Rebel Extravaganza (1999 Reissue)

Description

It was the dawn of a new millennium – and even more so for black metal pioneers Satyricon – who were about to experience probably the most groundbreaking evolution of their career. After the release of Nemesis Divina (1996), Satyr and Frost retreated for three years, only to return in the autumn of 1999 in a state of absolute delirium. Rebel Extravaganza proved to be more than an appropriate title and tore down all genre boundaries with an opening ten-minute progressive excerpt titled 'Tied in Bronze Chains'. Supported by renowned guests such as Fenriz (Darkthrone) and Snorre Ruch (Thorns), the Norwegians launched a revolutionary and experimental masterpiece that combines frenetic black metal with industrial elements, prog, synthesizers, and breathtaking time signatures. The album became the main source of inspiration for a myriad of experimental black metal bands to come and the birth of a new Satyricon era. To mark the 20th anniversary of this groundbreaking release, the album has been remastered and will be reissued by Napalm Records.
