Bird burning

Description

Bird Burning is an emotional cycle of pre-pop songs by Anglo-Norwegian singer Sasha Siem. Recorded at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland with Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Feist, Sigur Rós, Ben Frost), it explores the evolution of an intense relationship. This love story is translated into music through rich neo-classical orchestration and a poetic vision inspired by Sasha's learning alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Jorie Graham. The structure of the album is reminiscent of Schumann's romantic cycle that sets to music the poems of Adelbert Von Chamisso Frauenliebe und-Leben ("The Love and Life of a Woman"), poems that tell the story of a woman, from meeting her great love to their marriage and their death. The magic that inhabits the songs blends the personal/temporary/specific and the eternal/the archetypal.
