Lobos : Symphonies numéro 8, 9 et 11

Description

In the 1940s, Heitor Villa-Lobos was undoubtedly the best composer in Latin America. Working in the United States allowed him to broaden his perspectives: his last symphony moves away from the folk and exotic influences of his earlier works (1920-1930) such as Bachianas Brasileiras, towards shorter and sometimes neo-classical models. Symphonies No. 8 and No. 9 share an obvious lightness, while Symphony No. 11, described as a work of "immediate charm," is the perfect introduction to Villa-Lobos's subsequent compositions.
