Description

Édouard Lalo’s music for violin and piano should not surprise us, and yet it does! This album, performed by Julia Didier (violin) and Sandro D'Onofrio (piano), fits within the editorial line of the NovAntiqua label, which aims to broaden the repertoire of period-instrument performances of the 19th century in its entirety. Thus, Sandro d'Onofrio plays on a magnificent 1844 Erard grand piano and Julia Didier on a 1778 Marconcini violin, in its original condition. Thanks to this authentic sonority, Lalo’s music shines with its original elegance and humor, offering us a striking glimpse of the virtuosity of the French violin style of the time.
