Sammy Decoster & Digitale Sauvage

Description

We knew Sammy Decoster, an uncompromising soloist, an off-the-beaten-path duet partner with Facteurs Chevaux, and an intermittent lightning conductor for other artists (Valparaiso, Pomme, Minimum Ensemble, Karen Lano...). Today, we discover him celebrating his musical union with Marion Perrichet, aka Digitale Sauvage, his partner in heart and voice. Written during the aquarium cruise of the pandemic lockdown, infused with the grief of his mother's passing and the shock of a new war in Ukraine, a chiaroscuro naturally permeates the album, bringing an urgency, a powerful emotional recharge, and a return to origins. What strikes immediately is the diversity of tones in the arrangements, the richness and boldness of the palette, revealing, with the collaboration of drummer Alexandre Viudès, a trio behind the duo. The loyal accomplice draws from his analog keyboards, percussion, and other Peul shepherd flutes, creating a vibrant spectrum that, in Decoster's hands—who mixes the album himself—gives the record a dense and lively direction. To complete this mix, Californian Connor Gallaher's pedal steel guitar weaves and sparkles brilliantly throughout all the tracks. In ten songs, the duo delivers a fine vintage, dense and silky, intimate and spacious, something like a luxurious version of life when its little music embraces you.
