Description

Thanks to the richness of their three backgrounds, the singers of the trio Samaïa allow ancestral songs to take on a new life. This second album, Traversées, celebrates the pivotal moments of life through stories gathered from various rural traditions of Eurasia. The name, Traversées, evokes the journey of a life and the milestones that punctuate it. Each of these songs tells a story of a rite of passage, a welcome, a farewell, a call for help, or a celebration. Thus, the characters in these songs, sometimes so far apart (coming from Brittany or Iran, passing through Spain, England, Occitania, or Kurdistan), come together around a deeply human story. Notable guests include Sylvain Barou on flute and duduk, Ersoj Kazimov on percussion, and Yann-Lou Bertrand on double bass. Thus, from a blend of languages and colors skillfully handled, the songs resonate with each other, and from these subtle connections, a new story is born, carried by the entity SAMAÏA: a polyphonic architecture that breaks away from the beaten path to offer the listener a powerful journey, cultivating slowness and resonance, strength and fragility of the human voice.
