The trio’s first album in 1993 by Andrew Weatherall, Jagz Kooner and Gary Burns. Unavailable on vinyl and CD since its original release. Remastered from the original tapes by Matt Colton, it includes “Smokebelch II (Beatless Mix)” for the first time on the 2xLP edition. After working on Primal Scream’s era-defining album Screamadelica, not to mention his groundbreaking remixes for bands such as New Order, My Bloody Valentine and the Happy Mondays, Weatherall was as revered by indie music fans as he was cited by hardcore ravers. The growing demand for his services led him to team up with Kooner and Burns to form the trio The Sabres Of Paradise. The first track on Sabresonic was originally a remix of Primal Scream’s “Don’t Fight It Feel It”, but it underwent such a radical mutation that it turned into something entirely new. While reflecting contemporary dance music trends (“Inter-Legen-Ten-ko” is a nod to the IDM genre name), the album also draws on older influences - “R.S.D” is an acronym for “Red Stripe Dub”, with the deep influence of King Tubby and company evident in various places on the album, while the epic, icy panoramas of the more than 14 minutes of “Clock Factory” are inspired by the electronic experiments of industrial groups such as Coil.
