Since signing with Rhymesayers in 2015, Sa-Roc has released a series of powerful singles, accompanied by visually captivating videos, including "Forever," which has been viewed over 4 million times. In parallel, she has continued to cultivate and refine her skills, and is now set to release her first album for the label. Speaking about the meaning of the album title and its inspiration, Sa-Roc explains that The Sharecropper's Daughter speaks to her father's real beginnings on a tobacco plantation in Virginia where her family worked as sharecroppers. The title signifies that her father's education and hers, though so different, are connected by a shared history that influences her behavior in society. While her father's youth took place during the Jim Crow era in the South, where he suffered from poverty and racial oppression, and hers was shaped in the heart of Washington amid the war on drugs and its fallout, the album draws connections between two very different yet tragically familiar stories of the reality of being Black in America. The Sharecropper's Daughter is entirely produced by Atlanta hip-hop veteran Sol Messiah, except for "Deliverance," produced by Evidence and co-produced by Al B Smoov. And while Sa-Roc's clever wordplay, incisive execution, and exceptional writing are the highlights of the album, its quality is further enhanced by the remarkable performances of a small but formidable group of renowned guests, including Saul Williams, Styles P, Ledisi, Chronixx, and Black Thought. CD includes a 16-page booklet. Double vinyl version with an 8-page booklet and a download code.
