Symphonies n° 3 & 4
Description
Born in Dresden in 1870, Paul Büttner studied violin and oboe at the Dresden Conservatory. Over the years, he acquired an exceptional reputation as a musician of great talent. But it was not until 1915, at the successful premiere of his Third Symphony conducted by Arthur Nikisch himself, that the international music scene began to regard him as a promising modernist composer, a successor to Anton Bruckner and Johannes Brahms. The equally resounding success of the premiere of his Fourth Symphony in 1917 helped to cement this recognition. However, in 1933, the Nazi regime labeled his music as "degenerate" and banned the composer and his work from the public sphere.Christopher Ward conducts the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.Buy Symphonies n° 3 & 4 at the best price
