Originally released in 1976 on Piero Umiliani's Sound Work Shop label (under the pseudonym Rovi), Drammi e Speranze is a refined example of his library music, centered around melodic compositions performed by a string ensemble enriched with keyboards. The album is divided into two contrasting parts: a first part that is bright and optimistic, followed by a second that is darker and introspective, echoing its title ("Tragedies and Hopes").
