Les Embolies began first as a word, a confusion between the hard and the beautiful, shadow and light; embolies, embellies, embolies, embellies... A sonic and semantic confusion. At the outset there was this text, “La malvenue,” sent to Roni by her sister, beside her sick partner. Touched by this text, Roni turned to JB, her artist friend, proposing and submitting this desire to create. The Embolies repertoire was then born. Then came the desire to approach fragments of stories like little scenarios. Stories of destinies, of ordinary heroes. Leonard Cohen writes in his song "anthem", "there is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in." Begun during the pandemic, the repertoire grew and turned into a full album. Imagined stories, but also sometimes their story, more intimate and private. Recorded at home, at Roni’s, playing every instrument, without pressure, without a goal. A sincere and liberating experience. The duo "Les Embolies": Roni Alter: Musician, Singer Nominated for the Victoires de la Musique in 2019, 4 albums to her credit and numerous artistic collaborations (Keren Ann, Yvan Cassar, Yodelice, Clément Ducol, Avishai Cohen...) Jean-Baptiste Soulard: Musician-singer with multiple projects, co-founder of the group PALATINE, Composer of the project "Le Silence et l'eau", Arranger and accompanying musician for various artists (Brooke Sharkey, Chico Cesar, Clara Ysé..) Two artists in a bubble. A small room in the middle of a world at a standstill, an almost theatrical and cinematic dimension that Roni and JB transcribed into this new repertoire.
