Rolando Villazón returns to the roots of the Italian romantic vocal tradition Verdi, Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti... all experienced the golden age of art song in Europe. But beyond opera, these composers also wrote melodies in abundance: intended to be sung at home with piano accompaniment or to be worked on in conservatories, the melodies were for them a tremendous source of income. From "these little gems," Rolando Villazón decides to undertake a major project by commissioning orchestrations of melodies from the three great representatives of bel canto and their most brilliant successor. This recording features a selection of popular hits such as La danza by Rossini, Malinconia, ninfa gentile by Bellini, and Les Amants de Séville by Rossini, on which the tenor is joined by Cecilia Bartoli to form an unmatched duo!
