Waxwork Records, in partnership with Back Lot Music, presents the original soundtrack of the film OBSESSION, composed by Rock Burwell. Obsession tells the story of a desperate romantic who gets exactly what he desires, but soon discovers that some desires come with a dark and sinister price. “When composing Obsession, one of my main goals was to explore the valley of the strange, that space where emotions transform into something disorienting, where one can no longer distinguish the real from the false,” explains Burwell. “Curry and I worked together extensively to find the balance between feelings like warmth and anxiety, nostalgia and strangeness, and even the vastness of love in the face of a sensation like claustrophobia. What made the project so stimulating was the willingness to take risks, to use sharp cuts and a high volume, almost provocative. Discomfort was our goal. Obsession marks Burwell's debut as a film music composer. The atmospheric, synthetic, and disorienting score was developed in close collaboration with director Curry Barker and emerged from a creative partnership initiated during a joint musical project in Los Angeles. Waxwork Records presents the original soundtrack of the film OBSESSION, composed by Rock Burwell, in a deluxe vinyl box set including the complete album (26 tracks), a pearlescent red vinyl “Obsession,” a thick gatefold jacket with matte UV varnish, a 30 x 30 cm insert, and a new illustration by Robert Sammelin.
