The viola da gamba as a means of contemporary expression! The viola da gamba, the king instrument of the Baroque era, is not immediately associated with the world of musical creation or contemporary music. This project, The Waves, aims to present, from transcription to creation, a new repertoire for the instrument. What if Debussy had written some of his preludes for the melancholic melodies of the viola da gamba? What if a young composer, in 2023, Fabien Touchard, took these ancient sounds to compose a new work? Robin Pharo makes his instrument, the viola da gamba, a means of contemporary expression.
