For this release from OnA, the label of the Orchestre national d'Auvergne, Roberto Forés Veses concludes his exploration of works related to Vienna, which was a cross-cutting theme of his tenure as music director.
Versions for string orchestra of two quartets by Schubert are on the program of this new album: Death and the Maiden D.810 (transcription by Gustav Mahler) and the Quartettsatz D.703.
On the occasion of the release of this recording, the Orchestre national d'Auvergne begins a partnership with the Roger-Quilliot Art Museum – Clermont Auvergne Métropole (MARQ) by using paintings from the museum's collections to illustrate the album. The two institutions aim to promote the artistic heritage of Auvergne. This first collaboration highlights works by the painter Thomas Degeorge (1786-1854), an emblematic Auvergne artist in the MARQ collections that perfectly resonates with Schubert's scores (1897-1828).
