YESUN

Description

“Yesun is the record I have always wanted to make,” says Roberto Fonseca about this album, where a host of styles come together, from jazz to classical music, including rap, funk, reggaeton and electro, thus tracing a singular, improvised path, free from rules. “All my influences are gathered here. All the sounds, the atmospheres that make me who I am today.” It is an album of 13 original trio tracks, on which Roberto is supported by his musician friends, drummer Raúl Herrera and his longtime double bassist Yandy Martinez Rodriguez. It also features saxophonist Joe Lovano, the renowned Franco-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, Cuban singer/rapper Danay Suarez and the illustrious Cuban bolero diva Mercedes Cortés. YESUN wonderfully bears the Fonseca signature. That precision in form, rhythm and melodies. That richness in ideas. An album made by a Cuban virtuoso, driven by the idea of making music his own way and modernizing Cuban music in the process.
