ROBERT CRAY & HI RHYTHM

Description

A NEW SOUL-INFUSED ALBUM FOR BLUES ICON ROBERT CRAY For this new project, Blues Hall of Fame member Robert Cray headed to Memphis with renowned producer Steve Jordan to craft a soul-tinged album alongside the HiRhythm band. For more than four decades, Robert Cray has continued to build bridges between blues, soul and R&B, earning him no fewer than 5 Grammy Awards. With his longtime friend Steve Jordan, they decided to bring their love for Memphis soul to life by recording an album at the legendary Royal Studios (Ann Peebles, Al Green, Sly Johnson, Otis Clay). As a tribute to that era, the album features both original compositions and covers elevated by Cray’s guitar and the Hi Rhythm arrangements. For this new album, Cray wrote "You Had My Heart" and "The Way We Are", two beautiful love songs. It also includes a warm version of Bill Withers’ "The Same Love That Made Me Laugh" that sounds just like the era, as well as two Tony Joe White tracks and sublime tributes to O.V. Wright and Sir Mac Rice. A superb soul-infused blues album recorded in Memphis with legendary studio musicians. It has it all!
