The Red Planet

Description

Rick Wakeman, better known as the keyboardist in the progressive rock band YES (through five tenures between 1971 and 2004), is releasing a new solo album, "The Red Planet," a true return to his progressive rock roots after a series of three piano-centered albums. Reflecting on Wakeman's first album, the critically acclaimed "The Six Wives of Henry VIII," released in 1973, "The Red Planet" features eight new compositions centered around a central theme. Rick has dusted off his favorite analog keyboards and used, with his latest touches, the same formula he envisioned for his first album and the equally legendary "Criminal Record." The artist, who will soon celebrate his 71st birthday, stated that he is completely blown away by the enthusiasm observed during the release of a first excerpt: over 20,000 views were achieved on YouTube in one weekend. This new album will feature English bassist Lee Pomeroy, who had previously accompanied Rick Wakeman, notably in 2016 during his reunion with Jon Anderson and Trevor Rabin for a tour honoring the music of Yes. Completing the lineup are drummer Ash Soan and guitarist Dave Colquhoun.
