A mythical soul/boogie record recorded in Louisiana by Nigerian multi-instrumentalist Rick Asikpo while he was studying in Houston. Synth pads unfold over stretched-out grooves inspired by Earth, Wind and Fire, moving from the driving rhythms of “Disco Life” and “Jam” to the languid boogie and two-step soul of “Love” and “Let’s Get High,” in a Donny Hathaway style. The album is threaded through with a Texan/Nigerian filter, the missing link between the dance-floor experiments of Houston and Lagos.
