Comme ils disent

Description

As they say: the new committed compilation from Marianne Mélodie "No one has the right in truth, to blame me, to judge me, and I specify..." The commitment of Marianne Mélodie: 45 songs against homophobia
In 2020, the fight against homophobia and transphobia continues. Physical assaults are on the rise and in some countries around the world, being homosexual or transgender is still punishable by imprisonment or death. Marianne Mélodie wants to testify to its boundless tolerance by publishing a double CD whose intention is clear: difference is synonymous with wealth and diversity. All segregation must be condemned, in one way or another, and song is a fantastic vehicle for that. Because we have been able to make certain things accepted by people through song, we have gathered 45 tracks in a heartfelt box set.
From the gems of caricature from the 60s to the very committed lyrics of the 70s-80s-90s that herald a new era in the perception of homosexuality. Not to mention the moving and profound songs dealing with secrecy, confession, coming out, and the 2000s and a relative normalization of homosexuality.
A bit of history… In 1972, Charles Aznavour addressed the taboo theme of homosexuality and uttered the word "homo," a first in the history of French song, although written "homme, oh" on paper. Gone are the frivolities, the mockeries, the allusions. The subject is serious, homosexuals exist, they suffer from indifference and want to assert their difference. The one that, inexorably, excludes them, assaults them, condemns them. Musically, we move from the caricature of the transvestite, the archetype of the queen to the poeticization of a fact, playing either on ambiguity or on affirmation. All thanks to the voices of heterosexual or homosexual singers who manage to standardize the thing, with the sole aims of acceptance of the other and the right to freedom. Since 2012, homophobic violence has been severely punished, just like racist or anti-Semitic behaviors. But the fight is far from over.
