Elgar : violin concerto & violin sonata

Description

RENAUD CAPUÇON AND SIR SIMON RATTLE RECORD TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME. "RECORDING ELGAR WITH THE BRILLIANT SIMON RATTLE AND THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA DURING FULL LOCKDOWN WAS A BLESSED AND INSPIRING MOMENT." --- RENAUD CAPUÇON ---.Only eight years separate the Violin Concerto (written in 1910) from the Violin Sonata (written in 1918). While Elgar's Violin Concerto is one of the longest in the repertoire, it is also one of the noblest and imbued with a great poetry full of tenderness. Renaud Capuçon and Sir Simon Rattle, leading the London Symphony Orchestra, come together for the first time on record for a recording of the violin concerto, created in 1910 by Fritz Kreisler. The second part of the album is dedicated to the melancholic Violin Sonata. This time, Renaud Capuçon is accompanied by the wonderful English pianist Stephen Hough. The prince of the violin Fritz Kreisler said of Elgar, "I place him on par with my idols Beethoven and Brahms."
