Unplugged

Description

This release offers the complete set of their 2 performances, recorded ten years apart, on MTV’s flagship show. 2 dazzling showcases of R.E.M.’s talent in acoustic version. Includes 11 bonus tracks including Get Up, World Leader Pretend, The One I Love, Sad Professor, I’ll Take the Rain ... R.E.M. gave two stunning concerts on the MTV Unplugged show in 1991 and 2001. They are the only band to have appeared on the show twice. Surprisingly, the full extent of these two performances had never been released, even though these tracks were sought after by fans. This 2CD edition Unplugged: The Complete 1991 And 2001 Sessions is therefore an event, especially as it contains 11 bonus songs never broadcast on air during these appearances (Get Up, World Leader Pretend, The One I Love, Sad Professor among others...). Seen in perspective, these two concerts make it possible to grasp the evolution of the Athens band, which from 1991 to 2001 went from being a hope of American alternative rock to a global star band. The 1991 Unplugged is more particularly centered around the songs from Out of Time (Radio Song, Low, Losing My Religion) while the 2001 one draws from the albums Reveal (Imitation of Life, All The Way To Reno), Reckoning (So, Central Rain), Lifes Rich Pageant (Cuyahoga) and of course Automatic for the People with the sublime Find the River. Great art from a band that has always known how to shine acoustically.
