The band was formed in 1982 around Chris Reed. Very quickly, the first demos led to recordings, and John Peel became interested in their work and supported them. The band's music, from the start, was marked by guitar sounds, the deep voice of the singer, and lyrics expressing anxiety or terror.
The band's first album was released in 1985, after several European tours.
In 2004, the band reformed for a tour.
