Reverie

Description

Reverie is an atmospheric chamber-music soundtrack for violin, cello, and piano by sisters Rebecca Foon and Aliayta Foon-Dancoes, and marks the first collaborative album between the two musicians/composers. Reverie combines the post-rock and semi-improvised sensibility of cellist Rebecca, forged over more than twenty years within DIY/indie groups like Esmerine, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, and Set Fire To Flames, with the more recent trajectory of violinist Aliayta, who has moved from being an award-winning virtuoso performer to an academic explorer of interdisciplinary composition. In collaboration with co-producer Jace Lasek (Godspeed You ! Black Emperor, Patrick Watson, The Besnard Lakes), the result is an immersive suite of thematic variations that balances intimacy and detail with broad spatial luxuriance. Subtle electronic interventions and gently blown acoustics ebb and flow throughout the album, conveying Reverie’s overarching mission of weaving meditative pastoralism with the underlying anxiety, sorrow, and tragedy of ecocide.
