English delight

Description

Instrumental revelation at the 2014 Victoires de la Musique, violist Adrien La Marca spent two years preparing his first recording. The album « English Delight », a tribute to the viola and English composers, proves to be highly lyrical, blending different registers from various eras and styles.
Adrien La Marca invites us on a journey across four centuries, from Dowland, Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Bridge, Clarke, Britten to Jonathan Harvey.
All English, they influenced one another over 400 years, yet offer languages that are both so different and sublime. Each of these pieces is linked to a special moment in Adrien La Marca's artistic and musical journey. Beyond the great pleasure he feels in performing them on stage, he is now happy to have been able to bring them together on this record.
