Violinist, entrepreneur and pioneer Ray Chen is giving a new definition of the classical musician in the 21st century, with a global audience of more than 2.3 million people inspiring a new classical audience. His new album 'Player 1' celebrates the diversity and constant evolution of entertainment music. At the heart of the album, Ray Chen places Korngold’s violin concerto, paying tribute to the composer’s profound impact on Hollywood and on the evolution of film music. Ray presents this classical masterpiece through the prism of a selection of themes from the worlds of television (Squid Game), animation (Naruto, The Promised Neverland), cinema (How to Train Your Dragon) and games (The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon), specially arranged for Ray for this album. Ray Chen plays the 1714 Stradivarius “Dolphin”, a violin that once belonged to Jascha Heifetz, who premiered Korngold’s concerto in 1947. The album was recorded in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Cristian Macelaru.
