MODERN SOUNDS IN COUNTRY & WESTERN MUSIC

Description

Ray Charles surprised ABC-Paramount producer Sid Feller when he asked him to compile a collection of country and western songs. However, now that we have an overview of Charles's entire career, it hardly seems surprising. Country and western, just like jazz, blues, and all other genres and sub-genres of American popular music, have always been part of the vast vocabulary of the singer and pianist. Considered by many critics to be Charles's best studio album, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music has been deemed by several music writers as a landmark recording in American music. The LP has been called one of the greatest albums of all time by publications such as Rolling Stone and Time, and it earned Charles a Grammy Award for Best Rhythm & Blues Recording. Pure 180-gram virgin vinyl LPs, in a gatefold sleeve.
