GENIUS + SOUL = JAZZ

Description

Released in 1961, Genius + Soul = Jazz marks the second collaboration of the young Ray Charles with two jazz legends, Quincy Jones and Ralph Burns. This event is all the more remarkable as, unusually, the pair of arrangers work together here. An equation that hits the mark and offers us a true monument, a fusion inspired by soul, R'n'B, and jazz. Ray plays the Hammond B3 organ and is accompanied by the Count Basie Orchestra, which gives the album (mostly instrumental) a rather unique sound that regains all its warmth on vinyl. Featured in the ideal Fnac discography 2017.
