Description
2020 marks the 150th anniversary of Louis Vierne's Sonata. The young cellist Raphaël Jouan and pianist Flore Merlin have chosen to pair it with the Three Pieces by his student Nadia Boulanger, and the works of two of the most important figures of the time: Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy. This program highlights the astonishing diversity of artistic identities that coexisted in France during a short period. Flore Merlin plays a 1903 Érard piano, which belongs to the Conservatoire de Paris: its very rich, woody, and colorful sound is particularly well suited to the musical language and aesthetics of the time.Buy Serenade at the best price
