With *Evil Empire*, Rage Against The Machine remains faithful to the clear party line defined by their first album. Once again, the cover art (a young Soviet dressed as Superman’s son) and the title (an allusion to the name Ronald Reagan used for the USSR) are vehement anti-American statements. The music and lyrics also continue to convey the political commitment of the quartet, which at the time dedicated a large part of its time to supporting the Zapatistas and the disadvantaged in Los Angeles. Listen to the track "Bulls On Parade" and, regardless of its outspoken opinions, you will better understand why this group, which combines rap, punk, and hard rock in an explosive mix, was so successful. *Evil Empire*, the result of a collaboration with Brendan O’Brien (known for his work with Neil Young and Pearl Jam), is a fusion album whose sonic brilliance is unembellished and gets straight to the point without hesitation.
