The Ragazze Quartet joins violist and composer Garth Knox to perform two works for string quartet, alongside many duo or solo pieces. His quartet Four Into Twenty, written for the Ragazze Quartet, is a reflection on the current decade of the "twenties."
Garth Knox holds a prominent place on the contemporary music scene. Drawing on his extensive experience as a violist with the Arditti Quartet and the Ensemble Intercontemporain, as well as his close collaboration with major contemporary composers, he is a unique performer in many different styles. His own scores expand the horizons of all string players who perform his music. He creates an imaginary world consisting of sounds that are most often joyful, with echoes of traditional Scottish and Irish music.
The album Four, Four, Three – Music of Terry Riley by the Ragazze Quartet, widely acclaimed by critics, was the "Editor's Choice" of Gramophone magazine, for which "this interpretation brings forth moments of pure magic."
