Description

The creation process of Distorted Rooms began like most Radian albums, with the multi-step recording of the faintest sounds, from string scrapes to the latent hiss of an amplifier. These sound fragments are then restructured and processed using a variety of techniques that transform them, sometimes subtly, often more radically. Radian has always been interested in sounds that could be considered by-products and in optimizing their creative and sonic potential. Small gestures like turning a pedal on and off or changing a guitar mic are recorded and transformed into textures that crackle and froth with a fascinating effect. The trio expertly focuses on sounds often far removed from the brilliance of the recording process and exploits them to create unique, richly textured sound palettes that they then use to paint their meticulous arrangements.
