Description

Pour this second volume of Haydn's quartets recorded for Chandos, the Doric Quartet has chosen Opus 76, the last compositions for quartet. At the time Haydn composed this work, he was also focused on another major musical moment, "Die Schöpfung" ("The Creation"), the first of the six masses composed for the Esterházy Court. This coincidence will of course have an impact on the chamber music where we find moments of unique grandeur and construction, universal music open to all possibilities that the Doric String Quartet reveals to us with vivacity.
