Quatuors à cordes Intégrale

Description

Known for the intensity and depth of its performances, the Quatuor Danel has established itself on the international classical scene (Diapason d'or, Choc du Monde de la musique, BBC Music Magazine Record of the Month, ...) in the great foundational string quartet cycles, from Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert to Weinberg. Russian composers hold a special place in the Danel repertoire. They have also championed Shostakovich’s quartets by recording the complete cycle in 2005. Alpha Classics is now reissuing this box set, which ranks among the reference performances of the composer: “What a shock, what a monument! The Borodins have found their successors. The Danels take up the torch and carry it even higher, thanks to their sonority. This is not just another excellent complete set, it is, in the strict, radical and exclusive sense, the reference complete set of Shostakovich’s Quartets.” Christophe Huss, ClassicsToday
