Quai n°5
Description
MELER BACH WITH BRAZILIAN MUSIC OR MOZART IN YIDDISH STYLE?... NOT EVEN AFRAID! Such is the somewhat crazy bet of Quai n°5, a group formed around the double bassist, arranger, and composer Stéphane Logerot, which brings together musicians from varied backgrounds: classical accordionist Jean-Luc Manca, percussionist Paul Mindy, a specialist in world music, violinist Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, a soloist and member of the Trio Wanderer, and pianist Romain Descharmes, also from the classical milieu. A true musical world tour, with the great themes of classical music as a common thread, the album travels from Argentina to Italy, passing through Cuba, Brazil, North America, and Ireland, not forgetting some Eastern influences. Notably: the presence of 2 distinguished guests on the album. Singer Juliette, who lends her voice to La tosca mimi and to whom Quai N°5 owes the staging of its show. And Vincent Segal, who produced the album and is also known for his album Chamber Music with Ballaké Sissoko and for his participation in Sting's latest album If on a winter's night... One last question remains: why this name Quai n°5? Starting from the idea that if one train can hide another, a composer can also hide another; and there are five musicians on board.
