Description
Catalonia, a summer evening in 1399. A group of pilgrims stands along the wall of the church of the Montserrat abbey. In search of absolution, purification, and renewal, they sing and set hymns to music for the Madonna. A monk from the abbey transcribed this music into a manuscript, which was then covered with a crimson binding.
