The lyrics of the eponymous track reflect the festive atmosphere that Prince cultivated in his home "3121". The album surprisingly reached the number one spot on the Billboard 200 upon its release; it was the first album by Prince to debut at number one, and the fourth album of his career to reach that coveted position on the chart (the others being Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, and Batman). 3121 received multiple nominations at the Grammy Awards. The eponymous track of the album, "3121", was nominated in the Best Urban/Alternative Performance and Best R&B Album categories. "Black Sweat" entered the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song categories.
