PIANO & A MICROPHONE 1983 (1 LP)

Description

This vinyl album, which includes nine tracks (seven of them segued) and runs for 35 minutes, is a previously unreleased recording of Prince on the piano, taped in 1983 on a cassette in his home studio. This private rehearsal offers a rare and intimate glimpse into Prince’s creative process on tracks such as “17 Days” and “Purple Rain” (two songs that would later be released in 1984), his cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case Of You,” “Strange Relationship” (released in 1987 on the critically acclaimed album *Sign O’ The Times*), and “International Lover.” Also included is a rare recording of “Mary Don’t You Weep,” a cover of a 19th-century gospel song featured in the credits of Spike Lee’s new film, *BlacKkKlansman*. For fans of Prince's improvised live medleys, tracks 1 to 7 of the album are presented in their original format.
