Thibaud Defever (Presque Oui), usually a singer, proves to be an excellent storyteller, who knows how to create images and a deep listening experience with humor, tenderness, and gentleness.
Musically, Icibalao is a success. Trombone, drums, guitar, voice, mandolin, and calls sometimes form a mini New Orleans brass band, sometimes a power trio, alternating a stripped-down disco, a post-rock lullaby, and a jubilant and fierce Cajun quadrille.
