Haydn The Last Three String Quartet

Description

In 1799, Haydn began composing a series of six quartets dedicated to Prince Lobkowitz, the future patron of Beethoven. The quartets op. 77 no. 1 and 2 are the first culmination of this grand project. Busy with the composition of The Seasons and the Harmoniemesse, he was unable to complete this work but left, at his death, two movements of an unfinished third quartet, op. 103. These last three quartets, bold and full of humor, mark the magnificent farewell of the old master, who was about to pass the torch to his bubbling colleague Beethoven. A passing of the baton from one generation of composers to another, this program pays tribute to the great Prazak Quartet, which continues its transformation begun in 2015 and opens a new chapter in its history here.
