Power Castle

In 2000, traditional heavy metal, from doom to speed metal, had not yet recovered from the 1990s. A decade during which the old values of this musical style were no longer highly appreciated and where grunge, crossover, and then gothic metal took over for a few years. In the United States, the situation was perhaps even more difficult, as felt by two high school students from Olympia, Washington. In the detailed liner notes of the album "Power Castle", we learn that they indeed started as a sort of high school band, even though the young musicians were already exceptionally talented. Quite quickly, the first lineup changes occurred and the band, now called Power Castle, began to be taken very seriously. A restored demo from that time is included as a bonus on the CD version. You can hear the hunger and pure conviction in every second, even if they are not yet perfect. They played concerts and even began to produce an elaborate show — all without a recording contract — and became a popular local band. Nevertheless, the band sometimes fell apart and only resurfaced briefly in 2005 and 2012. In 2017, they decided to record the first tracks, which are now available on CD and LP for the first time via Golden Core and constitute the debut album. Since this product was only available in digital form on Bandcamp and on a handful of burned CDRs, it cannot be called a typical reissue either. The material from these now-experienced musicians is a perfect blend of American metal and the sound of Iron Maiden.
