The album title, In the Blossom of Their Shade, is taken from a line in the stunning yet dusty "Mi Ideal." This song draws its sonic influences from the Southwest, South America, and the Caribbean. The distant warmth of the music, particularly rhythmically, skillfully coincides with the nostalgia expressed in the lyrics. Unlike its melancholic predecessor, In the Blossom of Their Shade highlights the positivity of emerging from darkness into light. The record was almost titled Siesta Love, as it serves as the perfect soundtrack for a summer afternoon... the kind of music you want to listen to while enjoying a cocktail with your partner. LaFarge intentionally crafted songs that create space and whose melodies can glide throughout the composition, which is a departure from the swing and blues of his earlier works.
