Having started in 2007, Playgrounded have been together for over 15 years, playing national and international tours, while opening for bands such as Riverside, Anathema, and even Nine Inch Nails. Playgrounded’s sophomore album lives up to its noble album title’s aspiration. “The Death Of Death” is music that results from mastery rather than brilliance-devoid exploration and experimentation. The album was recorded at MD Recording Studios by Stavros’s long-time collaborator in film productions, Nikos Michalodimitrakis. Mixing was handled by C.A. Cederberg (Leprous, Anathema, Shining a.o.) in Kristiansand, NO, while the album was mastered by George Tandero (Madrugada, Satyricon, Jaga Jazzist a.o.) in Oslo, NO. “The Death Of Death” presents itself with staggering intensity and musical prowess. The perfection of the production and the innovation inherent in defining heaviness by means of detuned guitars, yet also electronic elements, are the pillars of an intriguing, idiosyncratic and incredibly mature sound.
